La Dra. Diana Morales Castro es anestesi\u00f3loga y especialista en medicina cr\u00edtica entrenada en la Universidad de Costa Rica y la Universidad de Toronto. Trabaja como intensivista en el la UCI quir\u00fargica del Hospital Calder\u00f3n Guardia en Costa Rica. Su experiencia cl\u00ednica se centra en la monitorizaci\u00f3n terap\u00e9utica, incluyendo farmacolog\u00eda y ecocardiograf\u00eda, en pacientes con ECMO. En 2024 complet\u00f3 una Maestr\u00eda en Ciencias Farmac\u00e9uticas en la Universidad de Toronto. Sus intereses de investigaci\u00f3n incluyen la farmacocin\u00e9tica y farmacodinamia de sedantes en pacientes con s\u00edndrome de dificultad respiratoria aguda, incluidos aquellos con soporte ECMO, y el fortalecimiento de programas de ECMO en entornos con recursos limitados.<\/p>\n

El Dr. Juli\u00e1n Arias Ortiz es especialista en Medicina Interna y Medicina Cr\u00edtica, y actualmente se desempe\u00f1a como m\u00e9dico asistente y jefe cl\u00ednico de servicio en el Hospital Calder\u00f3n Guardia en San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica. Este hospital universitario de alta complejidad es un centro de referencia nacional, con programas establecidos de ECMO y trasplante card\u00edaco, pulmonar y hep\u00e1tico dentro del sistema de la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social.\u00a0El Dr. Arias Ortiz complet\u00f3 su formaci\u00f3n en Medicina Cr\u00edtica a trav\u00e9s de la Universidad de Costa Rica y la Universit\u00e9 Libre de Bruxelles en el Hospital Erasme, en B\u00e9lgica. Su enfoque cl\u00ednico y acad\u00e9mico incluye el monitoreo hemodin\u00e1mico avanzado, el manejo de ECMO y el cuidado cr\u00edtico postoperatorio en pacientes trasplantados. Con m\u00e1s de una d\u00e9cada de experiencia en unidades de cuidados intensivos de alta complejidad, desempe\u00f1a un rol clave en la formaci\u00f3n de futuros intensivistas y en el avance de las pr\u00e1cticas de cuidados cr\u00edticos en la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

He holds academic appointments as Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology and a Professor at University of Queensland. Shekar is passionate about addressing the global variability in intensive care and extracorporeal life support (ECLS) outcomes through innovation, research, and education. His research interests include pathophysiology of cardiorespiratory failure, ECLS and mechanical circulatory support. His PhD work,\u201d The ECMO PK Project\u201d resulted in an advanced understanding of altered PK\/PD on ECMO and provided doing guidance for commonly used antimicrobial and sedative drugs.<\/p>\n

El Dr. Jorge Arturo Ram\u00edrez Arce es un destacado m\u00e9dico costarricense, especialista en cuidados cr\u00edticos y pionero en terapias avanzadas de soporte vital. Se desempe\u00f1a como jefe de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Cardiotor\u00e1cicos y Trasplantes (UCICAT) en el Hospital Dr. Rafael \u00c1ngel Calder\u00f3n Guardia de la Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS).Es el director del programa ECMO bajo los est\u00e1ndares de la organizaci\u00f3n internacional ELSO (Extracorporeal Life Support Organization). Adem\u00e1s, participa activamente en la organizaci\u00f3n de eventos cient\u00edficos de alto nivel, como el VII Congreso ELSO LATAM, Costa Rica.<\/p>\n
